My Worst Fears Reimagined As Movie Posters

fears

Sometimes, it’s good to make fun of yourself. When it comes to my anxiety disorders, I do this pretty often. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t be able to function.

I’ve reimagined a few of my biggest fears as movies. It’s okay. You can laugh at me. Or with me I guess, because I’m laughing too.

“No Regrets”

Image

How many times have you heard the saying “no regrets” in the past few years? I’m sure it’s always been around, but it seems everyone has decided the best way to live life is a life of regretting absolutely nothing. Is there anything wrong with that? If you watch MTV at all (my occasional guilty pleasure), you are guaranteed to hear someone, on some stupid reality show, end their screen time with “Just gotta live life, no regrets!”  Continue reading ““No Regrets””

Why You Should Watch “Bob’s Burgers” (plus, changes to my blog)

NOTICE: BEFORE I get started on my real post, I just wanted to talk about the small changes I’ve made to my blog! The website link has stayed the same (www.anxiousandawesome.wordpress.com), however, the actual name of my blog has changed to “Ellay’s Space”(My initials are L.A…Ell…Ay…Ellay) – because I apparently like borderline cliché, boring blog names. Whatever. I decided to change the name because my blog is not just about anxiety – I felt it was misleading when I decided to blog about things such as social media and books and movies and TV shows and whatever else I decided to blog about. I also felt constrained – like I had to stick to one topic because of the name, which might be a stupid reason but also…whatever. It is changed now.

Alriiiiight! On to the actual post!

Role Models

Do you have a role model? If so – who are they? Where did you meet them? Do you even know them? Did you see them on TV? In a movie? Did you read about them in a book? A magazine? Are they old? Young? Alive? Dead? Whether you are aware of it or not, you probably have some sort of role model in your life – or you have in the past. With the current state of technology and mass media, we talk a lot about “role models”. Who is one. Who isn’t one. Who should be one. Why?

Let’s Talk

Today is Bell’s Let’s Talk Day. A day to raise awareness for mental health and illness. Obviously, I think this is great. I’m glad people are starting to realize mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of; it’s a sickness like any other. If you live in Canada, you’ve probably seen the following commercial before. It really hit home for me, and probably thousands of others who have felt exactly this way. Anyway, I just wanted to share it for those who haven’t seen it. It’s only 30 seconds long, but it’s one of the most accurate depictions of depression/anxiety/mental illness I’ve ever seen.

The “Real” World

Have you ever watched MTV’s The Real World? Even if you’ve never seen a single episode, I’m sure you’ve at least heard of the reality show. It’s currently on its 29th season, and has been running since 1992 (it’s the same age as me!) I’ll admit it. The Real World is one of my guilty pleasures. It’s a guilty pleasure because…well…have you SEEN the show?
